Consistency is the mantra. The more often you practice, the deeper your understanding becomes. We practice daily, but understand that not every yoga-lover makes the same commitment. So, we recommend 2 or 3 classes weekly to create a nice momentum.
Don't eat a large meal before practice, it won't feel good to move around with a lot of food in your belly. Stay hydrated before your practice, and drink up after. This way you won't have to interrupt yourself by drinking during class.
Honor your teachers, yourself, and fellow students by arriving to class at least 5 minutes before starting time. Give yourself these minutes to come in without rushing, to settle into a peaceful space, and to show your teacher you appreciate her commitment to educating.
Culitvate a personal practice! Go ahead, nobody's looking. Unroll your mat, shoo your pet away, begin to breathe deeply, and do a few poses, take rest in savasana. That's all it takes to begin a home practice.
Most importantly, practice from a place of love. Don't foster your habits of guilt, negativity, hurt, hatred, or fear. Practice for self-care, for kindness, for peace, for contentment. Find freedom and bliss.
