Erin

Erin Ehlers has been teaching throughout the Seacoast for 10 years, and opened Yoga on the Hill in March 2008. She is an E-RYT 200 with the Yoga Alliance, and is currently pursuing her E-RYT 500 with her teacher, Kim Valeri of YogaSpirit Studios. She supports her study of yoga with continuing education, and has enjoyed workshops with Kofi Busia, Elise Browning Miller, Barbara Benagh, and Judith Lasater. Her approach to yoga comes primarily from the tradition of Iyengar yoga, but enjoys the richness of knowledge that comes from all lineages. She has lived at the Kripalu Center in seva (selfless service), and has practiced yoga since the age of 19. Erin's classes bring focus to the alignment of the asana (poses), using knowledge of the body to expand her students' abilities to create a healthy, sustainable and graceful yoga practice. Erin views yoga as a devotion to one's well-being, and encourages her students to commit to yoga as a lifelong practice. Erin believes that when we are able to connect with our steadfast peace, that we able to navigate all of life with ease and contentment. Meditation, yoga asana, breath work (pranayama) and the influence of yogic philosophy each make Erin's classes a necessary component of her students' lives.

Erin has a varied background in food (pastry chef, artisan cheesemaker), and works with Seacoast Eat Local. Her work with this organization includes managing winter farmers' markets and coordinating volunteers. She is passionately devoted to a being part of our local food and agricultural community. She lives with her partner in Kittery.
